Nokia 6340i review from United States of America

Plastic IR cover fell off soon after I got it, because it was crap. Not really an issue, except it makes turning the phone on and off a little difficult (must use fingernail).

Phone was acting a little unstable for a few years, because of random button-presses while it was in my pocket. Once I found the key-lock command, Menu->*, it has been so reliable, it's boring.

I don't know if it's this telephone, or my Cingular service, but I get excellent reception. Whenever I go places and talk on the phone, other people's phones will be cutting out left and right, while mine works fine. If you want a cheap, great reception phone that keeps going like the energizer bunny, this is probably a good bet. My mother and sister have also had the same telephone for the same length of time as me. Both their phones are still working fine as well, and my sister uses hers all the time.

But, for me, it's kind of a love/hate relationship. The phone just lacks polish. It's ugly, it gets dust inside the screen, it's slow, but not quite slow enough to bother most people. That stupid plastic cover came off weeks after I got the phone, and ever since, you have to press this recessed button with your fingernail for like 5 seconds to get the damned thing to turn on.

And then, if the battery is dead, and you just started charging, it might do 2 or 3 false starts where it kind of turns on, and then turns back off again. I don't know, it's just annoying. But, that's really all it is, annoying. Because even though I hate it, I have to admit that I am very glad that it has been so ridiculously reliable all these years, and I'll probably keep it in my car, fully charged, as a backup for this new phone I'm getting, that I doubt will be as reliable as this one. But more polished at least:)
