Samsung S500i review from United Kingdom

"Good looking choice, especially with i-mode functions"

What things have gone wrong with the mobile phone?

Not much has gone wrong, but it is all black and glossy - lots of fingerprint marks! One strange thing is that the camera flash only operates on one side (but it appears that this is not a fault, but the intended design of the phone).

You cannot use MP3 ringtones (but you can play them as normal music on the memory card or phone memory) - they have to be converted to AAC (MP4) format.

General comments?

Overall excellent choice.

Very light and sleek looking (all black... looks good next to an iPod Nano in black).

Camera is 1.3MP, and seems better quality than the Samsung E720/Z500, which are similar handsets.

Love the i-mode and i-mail service (I'm in the UK, but many countries now have the i-mode/i-mail service) - beats WAP hands down any day. The i-mail instantly delivers email like a Blackberry, but just in a nicer package.

Good bluetooth implementation.

The screen is stunning (very high resolution of 240 x 320 pixels, 262k) but does drain the battery life if heavily used.

Has typical Samsung noises and colour themes - very childish, but easily changed. Can seem very quiet compared to my Nokia.
