As with most phones, battery life is very short when you don't get reception.

For having a 520MHz processor, it still runs a bit on the slow side.

Very few applications support the landscape mode used when the screen is first opened.

Windows Mobile 5 works well in general.

Ringtones can easily be added from any sound format.

The 640x480 resolution is great for watching movies. Use TCPMP. It's also good for web browsing - Opera makes a fantastic browser for 640x480 on WM5.

They found a way to make Windows Media Player worse, somehow. Playlists cannot be made directly from the unit anymore. Not using WMP for more than an hour makes it lose track of where it was, so you have to reload the entire music library. The upside of this is that there are many free music players out there.

It's got a very unique form factor. The unit clamshells, giving you a full keyboard and a landscaped 640x480 screen. The screen swivels and lays back flat (like a tablet pc). When you do this, the screen automatically goes to portrait 480x640. This is how you talk on the phone. It is a bit cumbersome to answer a call this way, but a bluetooth headset would solve this if it is an issue to you. Call answer/end buttons on the bottom of the hinge allow easy operation even when the screen is laid back flat.

The clamshell design of the unit means that you can pocket it without buying a bulky case for it. It's built very solid so you wouldn't even need a case. The one that comes with it is a joke anyway (aren't they always?).
