Nokia 3510 review from United Kingdom
"All the phone you'll ever need, really"
What things have gone wrong with the mobile phone?
Buttons have become less effective over the years. Solved this by putting small pieces of paper between the phone body and button sheet.
Dust gets into the (removable) case and I have to clear it out every so often.
Charger lead has a loose connection due to my yanking it excessively.
General comments?
Bought to replace a malfunctioning 3210, I intend to use this phone until it falls to bits.
The Nokia user interface/menu system remains by far the most intuitive of all the makes of phone I have used. Same goes for text messaging. I tried a Sagem when I bought the Nokia and gave up sending a text in frustration.
You can change the covers if you want, but I maintain that this is a marketing ploy by phone companies trying to squeeze extra money from customers. As a result I have stuck with the orange and blue scheme that came with the phone. It is still in good nick, though the screen is a bit scratched.
Colour screen is nice, though not essential.
Directory system is a vast improvement over the 3210, as you can list lots of numbers (home, office, mobile etc) under one name. Seemingly endless capacity for numbers.
I miss the ringtone composer on the 3210 and refuse to pay £3 or so for tones from companies.
Vibrating alert very useful.
Unless you are fussed about phone photography or the latest style of phone (which will get scratched in a week anyway) this phone is the business. It is a worthy successor to the 3210, even if it isn't as handsome.
