Nokia 6102 review from United States of America

Nothing has broken on this phone.

Issues are:

1. Thes creen is dim in bright sunlight, and you cannot adjust how long the backlight stays on.

2. Although call quality is clear, the volume is low even at highest setting. Fortunately, the speakerphone function works well.

3. Software/firmware could be better menus and folders do not open fast enough for me.

4. Navigation could be laid out more thoughtfully, although I'm used to the way it is now.

This phone retails between $99 - $184, although through subsidies is usually free with a wireless plan.

Battery life is great. I've gone 3 days of average use before needing to charge it. If I don't use it at all, I'll keep a full battery bar for a day. Recharge takes only an hour or two. Fewer charges means a longer overall battery life and low utility bill.

This phone is TOUGH. Dropped it a few times (parts flew off and everything); still works. Wife dropped hers in coffee. It appeared to die, but after a little "dry out" time started working again.

Has Bluetooth capability, though I have yet to utilize it. Camera is OK, but as this feature is not reflected in the cost of the phone (especially when received free as part of a plan) it's a nice caveat.

Our carrier is Cingular (GSM), so all voice, video and image messages cost the same and are easy to send.

Whatever my next phone is, I'm likely to start with Nokia's product line first. This is my 2nd Nokia and it's done what I've needed it to do.
