Sony Ericsson K750i review from United Kingdom
"Jack of all trades, master of none"
What things have gone wrong with the mobile phone?
Very poor joystick: hard to navigate menus.
Random shutdowns, eventually leading to...
Hard-crash/lockup on reboot.
General comments?
I bought the K750i to replace a Sharp GX20i - while the Sharp was a good phone, I was looking for a better camera and more internal memory, and the 750i promised both a highly-rated 2-megapixel camera and 64mb of memory (plus memory-stick upgrades). So I picked one up.
The first thing I noticed was that the keys weren't great - they seemed hinged at the top, making pressing them a bit hit-and-miss. Adding a plastic case did help to improve this.
Next, came the joystick, which was something of a joke: unresponsive and difficult to click.
These were relatively minor problems, so I stuck with the phone - despite finding that the camera wasn't as good as advertised. It did the job reasonably well, but you'd never mistake the photos for those from a real digicam.
I also briefly experimented with using it as an MP3 player, but quickly abandoned this once it became clear that the sound quality wasn't great. I wasn't using official Sony-Ericsson headphones, but they sounded fine on my other MP3 player.
Eventually, it started acting erratically, and so was relegated to a spare handset, until it packed in completely when playing with a PAYG sim.
