Palm Centro review from United States of America
"Better, faster, cheaper, smaller -- in short, everything Palm needed to do"
What things have gone wrong with the mobile phone?
The Centro has been flawless, so far.
General comments?
What happens when you shrink a modern Palm OS Treo down to a smaller, more manageable size, add a big dollop of Sprint's affordably-priced national CDMA broadband wireless network, and price the handset at $50 with a two year contract?
You get a heck of a deal.
After a disappointing stint with the limitations, hardware quality problems, and s-l-o-w speed of the AT&T EDGE network with my iPhone (which went back to the store after 2 months), I was looking for a phone that would meet my needs.
I wanted it all -- speed, small size, e-mail/web capabilities, and integration with my existing PIM.
Palm delivers in all of these areas with the Centro -- and it's cheap too!
Why waste time with an iPhone? Sure, iPhone is prettier, but it costs more, does less, and is much much slower to boot. With the Centro on Sprint's network, you get a solid phone from a solid provider with good data speed and a lower price than AT&T charges for its slower iPhone service.
I love a great bargain that gets the job done. And Centro does it, in spades. Not revolutionary by any means, but a very welcome evolution to proven tech that provides better, smaller, faster and cheaper. Viva Moore's Law!
