I had the Audiovox 8910 from Alltel, and I'm pretty sure that they did sell Alltel a "better" version, because I've had this phone for about five months and it broke.
I had an LG, and the charging port broke and went all the way inside the phone. Luckily my friend had just got a new phone and she said I could use her old one, which was the Audiovox. When I got it from her, it had NOTHING wrong with it... until I went to charge it. I had to move the charger around, & set it in a certain spot & take it off vibrate, because the slightest bump would move it & make it stop charging.
Today I went to plug it in, and found that the ENTIRE port had broke & now I'm phone less.
I'm 15 years old and I NEED a phone. These phones are pieces of crap. I'm glad that they got recalled because they were NOT manufactured right.
At first this thing worked great!!
Then it would sometimes beep while charging.
After a year, it won't charge at all. When I plug in the charger the phone turns on. Then it can't decide if it wants to charge or not and will constantly flip from my wallpaper to the charging screen. "I'm charging! No, I'm not! I'm charging! Whoops I'm not!"
I thought my charger was screwy, so I used the car charger. Same crap.
I bought my daughter an Audiovox 8910 from Virgin a little over a year ago. The camera no longer works; it freezes the phone.
Now it won't charge. When we plug it in it starts beeping, a red light flashes and the display alternates between "charging" and "searching the system" for a signal.
I regret buying it in the first place. I think it is time for a new phone and a new provider.
My 8910 had the same problem with the charger so I opened it up and used electrical tape to fix the charger port. After that it worked good for a few days, then I got this message on the main screen that says " Please wait, user data is being restore... (7) ". The phone turns on by itself and flashes that message. I can't call, text, or anything and it's done this for four days now. If anyone knows what the problem is, please help me because I have over 300 numbers saved on there and I don't want to lose them. If you can help me or even give me some advice, please Email me at mind-over-matter-@hotmail.com
I have the same problem, but I took the battery out when it was charging.
My phone cuts off during the middle of a conversation! I can't tell you what the hell it is, but it sucks.
Also it gets so hot you can't hold it to your face!
I bought this phone for my husband for Christmas in 2006 or 2007. It worked okay, but we had the charging problem the entire time. Like everyone else, we thought it was something we were doing wrong. We were just getting ready to switch phones, so I tried to send all of my pictures so I could download them (one is the last picture taken of my mother-in-law before she died!) and it stopped letting me send pictures. I could still send texts, but not pictures. The rest worked okay for 3 more days. Now, we can't hear anything on the phone and no one can hear us. I just want my pictures. So far, we can still see the pictures when we open them, but I am not optimistic about that continuing. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get the pictures?
The sad part, I bought this through Alltel's website and now they are trying to tell me it was a Verizon phone! It would be funny, except that it is completely not. If you have any suggestions, I will check this posting again. Thanks!
Well my grandmother had this phone, and never used it, so I decided to switch it over as a pay as you go, and the stupid thing has the green light syndrome. It just flashes when I turn the power button. It also gets to a scorching 100 degrees after 5 minutes of charging. As I can see there is no fix to this phone. Guess I just throw it away and it can add to all the other piles of junk in the phone junk yard.
