Sony CMD J70 review from Greece

The mobile phone in question is the Sony CMD J70. It was bought while living in France, but took it with me when moved to Greece. I make the point because the battery seemed to last 10 days in France (which was why I bought it in the first place). In Greece, using it the same way I did in France only shows a week between two successive full charges. This however may also have to do with the quality of signal reception in Greece...

Moreover, software wise, I am not convinced this model is totally glitch free. In fact it has "frozen" (i.e. no reception, no click sound when presing buttons and the clock showing the exact same time for hours) more than once.

Finally, it seems to me quite difficult to read the screen even in a room - let alone the direct sunlight.

I tend to give more importance to the practical aspects of a mobile phone and the service it provides over factors like trendy look, nice ringtones or the kind of games.

I bought the Sony mainly on battery range and built quality. It seemed sturdy yet light, and all tests indicated at least 10-12 days of battery range between two successive charges. I have certainly not been disappointed. It has served me well over the years, the voice quality is good, and the screen is almost scratch free.

I would buy it again if it were still produced. I only wish that the software were glitch free and the price of a new battery were far lower than the 58 Eu I was recently quoted.
